Nature's Cycles
Life becomes death, and in turn death becomes life. This cycle is at the center of one of humanity's greatest existential discussions; we are fascinated by death and what possibilities lie beyond it. In nature life could not exist without death, many species of flora and fauna relying entirely on it to survive.
In this piece a resin crow skull takes front and center, with dried yellow flowers suspended within it. The death of a crow could have fertilized these flowers, and in turn the death of the flowers provides necessary nutrients.
On each side of the skull are a real isopod and Dubia, forever preserved. These tiny creatures were raised to help clean my reptile's tanks, and I collected them after they had already died of natural causes.
A bed of real moss ties this piece together, and it is finished with an 18" 316L stainless steel chain.
